In the aftermath of recent terrorist attacks, on September 20, 2001 UTU participated in a rail transportation security conference, the result of which was the establishment of 6 separate task forces to deal proactively with rail security issues. A summary of the conference and a description of the task forces are included here. UTU National Legislative Director James Brunkenhoefer emphasizes that input should be received by close of business on Monday, September 24, 2001, since these task forces will act quickly on this matter.
