Thanks to the hard work of the leaders and members of UTU and other labor organizations, the Railroad Retirement Improvement Act will become law. However, there is still some work to do in negotiating changes to our Health and Welfare contract so employees who take advantage of the 60/30 retirement option will have adequate insurance benefits. Also, the Railroad Retirement Board will have to review the enacted legislation in order to give accurate information to retirees.
