After rescinding the controversial Availability Policy, the Carrier has now issued general attendance guidelines for employees in unassigned service, including traditional rotating extra boards. All regular assigned service, including rest day extra boards, is excluded. These attendance guidelines appear to be significantly less intrusive and restrictive than the Availability Policy, and the Carrier has assured us that a common sense approach will be taken so that only employees who truly have absenteeism problems without good cause will become subject to any corrective action. Your Local and General Committees will closely monitor the Carrier's application of these guidelines, and we solicit your input when you see abuses by Carrier officers.
